Whether you're handing keys back to a landlord in Joliet or closing on a sale in Plainfield, the final walkthrough tends to focus on the same places. An empty home hides nothing, so the spots that were behind furniture or inside appliances suddenly matter.
Kitchen: inside and outside of every cabinet and drawer, inside the oven including racks, inside the refrigerator and freezer with shelves removed, the range hood filter, the dishwasher door edge, and the floor under where the fridge and stove sat.
Bathrooms: toilet base and behind it, shower door tracks, grout, the exhaust fan cover, medicine cabinet shelves, and the vanity drawers. Hard-water spots on glass and chrome are the single most common item flagged on walkthroughs.
Everywhere else: closet shelves and rods, window sills and tracks, blinds, baseboards, light switches and outlet covers, the inside of the front door, and scuff marks on walls near doorways. Vacuum carpet edges with an attachment, then mop hard floors last, working toward the exit.
If the timeline is tight, this is the clean worth handing off. We schedule move-out cleans around closing and key-handoff dates and can send photos when we're done, so you have a record for your landlord or buyer.
